Gen-Y is built around patented Torsion-Flex technology: the hitch isolates the truck from the trailer so the ride is smoother, the coupling is quieter, and towing is easier to live with on Australian roads. That is why owners call it the last hitch they buy. We stock bumper-pull, pintle and gooseneck setups in 2" and 2.5" receivers, from 3500kg through 7000kg.
BOSS Torsion-Flex hitches
The BOSS Torsion-Flex is our everyday best seller. It is a fully adjustable drop hitch with Torsion-Flex built in — the one to spec when you want the smoothest bumper-pull tow and a hitch that copes with mixed trailer heights. Capacities run from 4000kg and 4500kg on a 2" receiver through to 7000kg on 2" and 7000kg on 2.5".
The 4500kg BOSS on a 2" receiver is the hitch we fit most on American trucks towing caravans, plant trailers and boat trailers. BOSS hitches can be used in drop or rise so you can level the trailer, not the truck.
Mega-Duty drop hitches
Mega-Duty drop hitches are the heavy-duty adjustable drops when you want Gen-Y strength and multiple drop options without the Torsion-Flex cartridge. Ratings start at 4500kg on a 2" receiver and go to 7000kg on 2" and 7000kg on 2.5". Mega-Duty is the right call when the brief is a tough, adjustable drop hitch with a lifetime guarantee on the hitch itself.
Not sure between BOSS and Mega-Duty? If ride quality is the priority, take the BOSS. If you want a simpler adjustable drop at a lower price, take Mega-Duty. We will spec it around the trailer, ball height and receiver size.
Phantom and Glyder
The Phantom-XT Torsion-Flex (3500kg) and Phantom drop hitch (3500kg) cover lighter bumper-pull work where you still want Gen-Y build quality. The Glyder Torsion-Flex is the compact torsion option when a full BOSS is more hitch than the job needs.
Spartan gooseneck
The Spartan gooseneck coupler is Gen-Y’s Torsion-Flex gooseneck for flatbed, utility and enclosed gooseneck trailers. SnapLatch coupling and the torsion design take the shock out of the gooseneck so the truck stays planted and the trailer does not bounce the cab. If you run a gooseneck in Australia, this is the Gen-Y to look at.
Australian tongue, steps and accessories
The Australian Tongue is rated and tested to 4500kg for this market. It is the tongue to use with DO35, DO45, EzyHitch and McHitch couplings — pair it with reducing bushes where you need them. We also stock the Torsion-Flex weight-distribution shank for Hayman Reese A-frames.
Around the hitch we carry serrated hitch steps, heavy-duty side steps, aluminium loading ramps, hitch tighteners, pintle locks, replacement balls and weld-on receiver tubes so the whole towing setup is Gen-Y, not a mix of leftover parts.

Are Gen-Y hitches bought elsewhere grey imports?
If the Gen-Y Hitch product did not come from Tough Trucks or the official Australian store, or one of our authorised Gen-y Hitch dealers, treat it as a grey import. Warranty and local support may not apply. Buy from us for a genuine hitch, a valid warranty path, and local install support.

Should I get a BOSS Torsion-Flex or a Mega-Duty drop hitch?
Choose a BOSS when you want Torsion-Flex ride quality and an adjustable drop or rise. Choose Mega-Duty when you want a heavy-duty adjustable drop without the torsion cartridge. For lighter 3500kg bumper-pull work, look at the Phantom-XT or Phantom drop.
Do you have a tongue for DO35, DO45, EzyHitch and McHitch?
Yes. The Australian Tongue is made for this market and rated to 4500kg. Use it with those couplings, and add reducing bushes if the fitment needs them.
Can a Gen-Y hitch be used in drop and rise?
Yes. BOSS and Mega-Duty hitches are adjustable and can be used in drop or rise so the trailer sits level behind the truck. Measure ball height and coupler height with both vehicles sitting level, then we will pick the drop.
What capacity hitch do I need?
Match the hitch to the trailer’s ATM and the vehicle’s tow rating — never exceed the lowest of those figures. Typical specs we sell are 3500kg (Phantom), 4500kg (BOSS and Mega-Duty on 2") and 7000kg (BOSS and Mega-Duty on 2" or 2.5"). Tell us the truck, receiver size and what you tow and we will confirm it.
Which vehicles do Gen-Y hitches fit?
Gen-Y hitches drop into a standard 2" or 2.5" receiver, so they fit Ford F-150, F-250 and F-350, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, RAM and most other vehicles with a compatible towbar. Check receiver size on the truck before you order, or call 07 5500 0095.
