Silverado 2500HD GVM Upgrade
A GMSV Silverado 2500HD arrives at 4,495 kg in NB1, or 5,148 kg if it is already NB2. These federally approved SSM packages take it to 5,500 kg or 6,000 kg. That is NB2, so the driver needs a Light Rigid licence. We fit the package as specified at Arundel or Mackay. Private imports are not covered. A taller lift does not add GVM once the stage is chosen.
Factory combined mass stays 12,474 kg and braked towing stays 4,500 kg on every stage. Payload below uses a 3,762 kg kerb. Your canopy, bar and winch eat into that payload.
Packages
Stage 1 is the 5,500 kg package. Stages 2 to 6.5 are all 6,000 kg. Stages 5, 6 and 6.5, and 37 inch tyres, are pre-registration builds.
Stage 2 · 6,000 kg
Same 3 inch height with Fox 2.5 Performance Elite and 500 kg packs. About 2,198 kg payload. This is the volume touring stage. Lift is not why the rating went up.
Stage 3 · 6,000 kg
3 inch coilover conversion, Fox 2.5 Performance Elite, 500 kg packs. About 2,190 kg payload. Same GVM as stage 2, different front end.
Stage 3.5 · 6,000 kg
Stage 3 coilover with Kelderman rear air instead of leaf packs. For a canopy or tow-ball weight that changes trip to trip.
Stage 4 · 6,000 kg
5 inch torsion and 550 kg rear packs. Same 6,000 kg as stage 2. 37 inch tyres are a pre-registration fitment.

6.5 inch torsion, Fox 2.5 Performance Elite, 500 kg packs. Pre-registration only. Same GVM as stage 2.

We do not swap the shocks, arms or packs for a different brand. That breaks the approval.
Wheels and tyres
Where the table says a load-rated wheel is required, the wheel is quoted with the package. It is not approved for that stage until the provider signs it off and the load rating meets the figure in the table.
The shortlist, in order, is an AEV wheel that fits this truck, then the KMC KM733 Impact FFT on an HD 8-lug, then Fuel Maverick or Fuel Vapor in 18x9 or 20x9 at +20. Method is not on this list.
AEV that fits a 2024-on Silverado HD: Salta XD. Earlier HD years are quoted.
Tyres are a BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 when a size meets the stage load index. A BFGoodrich all-terrain is the alternative. A bar, winch or canopy adds kerb weight and uses payload. It does not change the approved kit.

These sit outside the approved package. They are not a substitute for a shock, arm or spring in the kit.

In-house modification plate
This is a different job from the federally approved package above. We supply a McGaughy's or BDS kit, install it at Arundel or Mackay, and issue the modification plate ourselves. The certified kilograms are set for your VIN. They are not the stage ratings in the table.
Use this path to stay at or under 4,500 kg on a car licence, or when the truck is outside the SSM approval. A private-import Silverado 2500 is the usual case.
Silverado 2500 GVM questions
Can I keep a car licence?
Not on these packages. 5,500 kg and 6,000 kg are NB2, which needs a Light Rigid licence, a zero blood-alcohol limit, and heavy-vehicle rules. To stay at or under 4,500 kg, use the in-house plate and we set that rating for the VIN.
Will you do a private import?
No. This approval is GMSV Silverado 2500HD only, 2020 to 2026. A privately imported truck is an in-house plate conversation, and the kilograms will not be these stage figures.
Does the 6.5 inch package carry more than the 3 inch package?
No. Stages 2 through 6.5 are 6,000 kg. The extra lift is stance and tyre size. Stage 1 is the only 5,500 kg package.
Which wheels can I run?
Every stage needs a wheel rated to at least 1,644 kg. We quote AEV first where it fits, then a KMC KM733 Impact FFT, then Fuel Maverick or Vapor at +20. Nothing is fitted until that wheel is signed off for the stage. Stages 1 to 5 need a 125Q tyre. Stages 6 and 6.5 need 128Q. A BFGoodrich KM3 is the tyre we spec when the size meets that index.
