Silverado 1500 GVM Upgrade
A Silverado 1500 LTZ, Trail Boss or ZR2 from 2019 to 2026 starts at 3,300 kg. These federally approved SSM packages raise that to 3,650 kg, 3,850 kg or 4,250 kg. All of those sit under 4,500 kg, so the truck stays NB1 on a car licence. We fit the package as specified at Arundel or Mackay. Stage 2 is ZR2 only, and it drops braked towing to 4,200 kg.
Payload figures use a 2,543 kg factory kerb. A ZR2 has a lower combined mass than an LTZ on stages 3, 4 and 5 because its tow rating is 4,200 kg.
Packages
Stages 1 to 3 keep the factory wheels. Stages 4 and 5 need a wheel rated to 1,250 kg and a 116Q tyre. Factory wheels are rated around 862 kg, which is why they stop at stage 3.
Stage 2 · 3,650 kg · ZR2
2 inch, factory Multimatic kept, BDS arms. Braked tow drops to 4,200 kg and GCM is 7,850 kg. Not an LTZ package.
Stage 3 · 3,850 kg
3.5 inch, Fox 2.5 Elite with DSC, 200 kg packs. About 1,272 kg payload. Factory wheels still legal. GCM is 8,350 kg on LTZ and 8,050 kg on ZR2.
Stage 4 · 4,250 kg
Fox 2.5 Elite and a 200 kg or 400 kg pack. Wheels must be rated to 1,250 kg. Tyres 116Q, up to 35x12.5R18. About 1,672 kg payload.
Stage 5 · 4,250 kg
Same 4,250 kg rating as stage 4, with Fox 3.0 bypass shocks. Wheels and 116Q tyres are still required. The extra shock does not add GVM.

What stays in the kit
BDS control arms are in every stage. Leaf rate is 200 kg until stages 4 and 5, which can be 200 kg or 400 kg. Bars, lights and a canopy are outside the package and they consume the new payload.
Wheels and tyres
Where the table says a load-rated wheel is required, the wheel is quoted with the package. It is not approved for that stage until the provider signs it off and the load rating meets the figure in the table.
The shortlist, in order, is an AEV wheel that fits this truck, then the KMC KM733 Impact FFT on an HD 8-lug, then Fuel Maverick or Fuel Vapor in 18x9 or 20x9 at +20. Method is not on this list.
AEV that fits a 2019-on Silverado 1500: Salta XR.
Tyres are a BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 when a size meets the stage load index. A BFGoodrich all-terrain is the alternative. A bar, winch or canopy adds kerb weight and uses payload. It does not change the approved kit.

These sit outside the approved package. They are not a substitute for a shock, arm or spring in the kit.

In-house modification plate
This is a different job from the federally approved package above. We supply a McGaughy's or BDS kit, install it at Arundel or Mackay, and issue the modification plate ourselves. The certified kilograms are set for your VIN. They are not the stage ratings in the table.
Use this path to stay at or under 4,500 kg on a car licence, or when the truck is outside the SSM approval. A private-import Silverado 2500 is the usual case.
Silverado 1500 GVM questions
Do I need a truck licence?
No. 4,250 kg is still under 4,500 kg, so the 1500 stays NB1 on a car licence. A 2500HD package is the one that crosses into Light Rigid.
Why is stage 2 ZR2 only?
It keeps the factory Multimatic suspension and adds control arms. Braked towing on that stage is 4,200 kg, not 4,500 kg. An LTZ uses stage 1 or stage 3 for a one-tonne payload.
When do I have to change wheels?
Stages 4 and 5. The wheel has to be rated to 1,250 kg and the tyre to 116Q. We quote AEV Salta XR first, then KMC, then Fuel, and we fit one only after it is signed off.
